China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said President Xi Jinping left Beijing on September 23 for a state visit to the United States at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump. The White House separately recorded an arrival ceremony with the Chinese president on September 23.

The visit was scheduled to continue through September 25, with the formal White House State Arrival Ceremony and principal state-visit programme set for September 24.
